We have
an exciting new opportunity to join our Publishing team in Beijing as a
Research Service Specialist. This is a key role within Publishing
enabling the Journals publishing team to achieve its aim of being the
first choice publisher for authors through providing a superior customer
experience. You will develop and maintain positive and collaborative
internal relationships, particularly with the Journals teams to
proactively contribute to the growth and quality of the journals, whilst
providing excellent researcher service. In this role you will be
responsible for monitoring, evaluating and prioritising enquiry
responses and to ensure that researchers queries are resolved quickly
and effectively.
In addition to the above, you will be:
- Communicate solutions to the researchers ensuring that communication is at the appropriate level for the researchers’ understanding of RSC products and publishing process.
- Carry out administrative tasks associated with supporting the Journals team’s delivery of an excellent customer (authors/readers/reviewers) service.
- Provide publishing technical training when necessary.
- Log all enquires using mail inbox and respond to technical support queries.
- Undertake other reasonable duties and projects as required
- Develop and maintain good relationships with Chinese research community, including authors, reviewers, readers and the Editorial Board members.
We are looking for:
Essential:
- Good general standard of education in science (chemistry, material and environment preferred)
- Strong problem-solving skills with methodical approach
- Well-developed communication and interpersonal skills
- Proven ability to work well in a team
- Ability to gain knowledge of department activities and carry out tasks in support of departmental objectives.
- Substantial experience of Word, Outlook
- Excellent eye for detail.
- Demonstrable ability to use own initiative to identify and resolve work problems and to work proactively.
- Demonstrable ability to prioritise and organise own work and time.
- Demonstrable ability to communicate and cooperate with staff at all levels.
- Substantial ability to working independently and without close supervision and to meet deadlines.
- Fluent in Mandarin and English
Desirable:
- A master’s degree in science is preferred.
- Previous experience in STM publishing would be an asset.
