cardiovascular risk, bone health, Vitamin D, selenium and iodine, non-alcoholic
fatty liver disease, obesity and energy balance. As a Human Nutrition student,
you will be taught by lecturers who are active researchers, or have a wealth of
experience in their areas.
Programme
overview
Our MSc Human Nutrition programme will give you an in-depth knowledge and
understanding of nutrition and develop your scientific research skills to an
advanced level. A student-led research project will fuel your interest in this
fascinating and vital discipline, and will form an excellent foundation for
those who wish to pursue further education via a PhD or research post in
industry following completion of the MSc.
The degree has been designed to enable you to develop the skills and knowledge required to understand the current issues in the field of human nutrition. All taught elements emphasise the evidence-based links between diet, health and disease, underpinned by a full appreciation for the nutritional mechanisms involved.
The programme is designed to accommodate UK/EU or oversees graduates in a related subject seeking a postgraduate qualification as a way of conversion into nutrition (for example, graduates in a biological science including biochemistry and physiology) or those with a registrable qualification (for example, medicine or dentistry). The programme also caters for nutrition graduates from both the UK and oversees.
The MSc consists of eight taught modules (15 credits each) and a research project (60 credits).
The Programme is accredited by the Association for Nutrition, delivering all the core competencies required of registered nutritionists. Upon successful completion of the MSc, graduates are able to enter the UK voluntary register of nutritionists, and our excellent links with industry will help you to pursue a successful and rewarding career.

Entry requirements
An honours degree (normally a 2.2 or better) in nutrition or a related subject (for example, a biological science including biochemistry and physiology), or a registrable qualification in medicine, dentistry or veterinary medicine. Applicants may also be admitted by virtue of professional or other relevant qualifications and/or experience.
